Recycling is Important to our Lake Community
Livingston County offers additional recycling resources besides our local curbside trash & recycling provider Dougie’s Disposal.
The Livingston County Department of Public Works and Solid Waste operates a program known as Livingston County Solid Waste Program. The program offers many options for recycling, composting, landfills, and trash haulers. In addition to The Big Red Parrel Project, offering a secure and environmentally safe disposal of drugs.
Their mission is to develop and implement an integrated solid waste management program which protects public health by maximizing environmental and economic benefits, develop and implement mechanisms to control illegal dumping by providing incentives and education to prevent illegal dumping from occurring, and to build an educated public where citizens are informed about and understand solid waste management issues and concerns.
They host Household Hazardous Waste Collection Events and provide resources for the disposal of motor oil, paint, batteries, sharps/needles, prescription medications and large items.
